Resilience, 2014. Pen, ink, satellite view printout on watercolor paper. 14 x 11.5 in. Private Collection.
This piece contains a satellite view of the truck depot in Delray and an ink painting of a skyline. This was one of the first attempts I made at combining industrial imagery with portraiture. In the opening I left for a portrait of a person, I drew one of the women catadores (garbage pickers) from Vik Muniz's Wasteland (2010), about Jardim Gramacho, Brazil, the worlds largest landfill. The piece is named "Resilience" as a hope for the future.
