The DELRAY Project
In early 2016, a nonprofit organization that is working to increase the quality of life of people in Delray, Detroit
approached me to document this area before a new bridge to Canada is constructed in the center of this Detroit neighborhood.
They asked me because they knew I was already working in this community for the Common Heroes project.
I wanted residents to document the way they see their own community. I organized a photography workshop and
supplied them with cameras. People were so eager to tell their stories, I started recording conversations.
The project resulted in a slideshow that also includes some of my own photos. This is a selection of photos that were in the slideshow, plus a few more.
